HWT Mardell

The Brief

For this project, I was tasked with creating a 16-page typographic zine exploring my interest in typography and its role in contemporary visual communication.

The Zine

A 16-page zine exploring my love for typography and its place in contemporary design. I chose HWT Mardell (Louise Fili, 2016), a typeface born from wood type traditions and inspired by Italian Futurism. With just two colours, bold compositions, and only three images, the focus is on type as image, its handcrafted imperfections, energy, and personality. The result is loud, dynamic, and designed to let the type do all the talking. Looking back, this project pushed me to see typography not just as text, but as a powerful visual voice.
