Comic Draw

The Brief

Comic Draw is a comprehensive learning guide that teaches the art of comic book creation through visual storytelling. Designed to sharpen both critical literacy and drawing skills, it delivers an interactive and engaging experience that seamlessly combines the creative process of drawing with narrative development, fostering a deeper understanding of literacy through the world of comics.

The game encourages creativity and storytelling by combining comic art education with interactive drawing features. It simplifies important drawing concepts such as perspective, colour, layout, and characters, making them easy to understand. Each chapter teaches a specific skill through simple, step-by-step lessons, helping children gradually build a foundation to explore and express their ideas.

Year: 2023
Scope: Medium-Fidelity App Prototype
Assets: 1 Figma File.
Programs: Figma & Adobe Illustrator

The website serves as a chapter book, with each chapter covering a new topic. Once the user has covered the content, they can use what they have learned in the drawing function. Interactive tools like brushes, shapes, and colour palettes allow players to practice and apply what they’ve learned directly on a digital canvas.

The game promotes hands-on learning; after completing a lesson, kids are encouraged to draw their comic scenes, applying their new skills to create unique characters and stories. This format allows for easy implementation into a school lesson plan, allowing teachers to use each topic as a different area of focus for their lessons. It also provides at-home learning, letting children learn and draw at their own pace.
